Cork Craft and Design is a Cork-based local artisan e-commerce services that allows Cork-based artisans to sell their crafts to buyers all over Ireland

Cork-based artisans such Sabina Lucas not only sell their work CCD but also through Etsy which allows them to sell their craft internationally and their Instagram account (@\sabinalucasart) is used to promote and showcase their work.

Features on the web app that I found useful:

  • Multiple payment options - credit/debit card, PayPal, and ShopPay (Payment Method by Shopify)
  • The shops are sorted through the crafts that they are selling (see screenshot below) for example, if a buyer is looking for a local candle artisan, 'The Farrow Collection' and 'Wizard & Grace' are two candle makers that they can shop on.

  • CCD offers Gift Card which is a good idea to gift to someone as I think this helps with promoting the brand itself especially for people who may not know that a local craft shop like CCD exists
  • Monthly showcase - in the home page, there is a section for local crafts to be featured in a 'monthly highlights'
What can be improved on:

  • local delivery feature can be added - so far, crafts can only be collected from the store branches
  • potential for international delivery

 West Cork Crafts (WCC) is another example of an existing Web Application services similar to ARTY. Like CCD, West Cork Crafts also sell local crafts from Cork-based artisans.  https://www.westcorkcrafts.ie/ Features that I liked about WCC: There is a section on the local artisans to introduce themselves. I believe having this section allows for the sellers to express themselves and briefly describe what they do and also allows for both the buyers and the sellers to be closer. See screenshot below for an example. Not only that but each sellers also include the links to their other platforms such as Etsy and Facebook/Facebook Marketplace to further showcase their work. Has a variety of 'Shop By' filters which allows the buyers to customise their shopping experience. Shop by members - perhaps the buyer has a favorite craftsman they want to buy their lcoal crafts from Shop by category - for buyers who knows what they want to buy.
